The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF), established in 1984, is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer through world-class research.

Sadly, statistics from all over the world show that almost all of us will have experience of cancer, either personally or through a close friend or family member, during our lifetime.

I chose to fundraise for this not-for-profit organisation as they are at the leading edge in global cancer developments. They are working diligently to ensure vital & sustained research continues in the battle against cancer. Working speedily to find a cure faster - to make cancer something of the past.

Last year, Professor Ian Frazer (Australian of the Year 2006) and his team were able to create a vaccine that prevents cervical cancer by up to 70%.  A global breakthrough.  See interview at the bottom of this page with Prof. Frazer which appeared in the ACRF's newsletter magazine 'The Cancerian'.

As the ACRF writes "with a little more help, who knows what we can achieve this year".

The Foundation's fundng supports the discovery of new ways to detect & treat all the various types of cancers.

The ACRF receives no government funding but fills a vital gap in funding cancer research & financing facilities not provided for by State or federal medical grants bodies.

They have among the lowest expenses in the charitable fundraising sector - are committed to low administration and fundraising costs.
